Single Family Home in Arlington's Waycroft Neighborhood

One of Arlington’s more upscale neighborhoods, Waycroft offers residents luxury living right in the heart of Arlington. With spacious houses and private backyards, residents get a break from the noise and traffic of the city while still being only minutes from some of the best restaurants, attractions and amenities.

Fall in Love with the Location

Waycroft is sandwiched between many of Arlington’s major roads, with North Glebe Road forming the eastern border, Curtis Memorial Parkway/ I-66 making up the southern boundary and North Mason Drive running north to south on the neighborhood’s western side. Waycroft is also just south of the Virginia Hospital Center.

Peaceful Streets

Walking up and down the streets of Waycroft, you will notice that the neighborhood primarily features upscale single-family homes. Coming in a variety of different styles, some with front decks or back patios, most of these models are situated on large property lots with beautifully landscaped lawns. Residents here certainly get the best of both worlds—secluded and peaceful neighborhoods complimented by the upbeat lifestyle of living in a big city.

Easy Access to Everything

Getting around the neighborhood and to surrounding areas is simple for Waycroft residents. The Ballston metro station is right outside the neighborhood’s borders, making it easy to commute to Washington, D.C. and other major points. Arlington Transit also provides cross-county bus routes, another convenient way of getting around. Many residents also rely on driving their own cars, making use of the many nearby major roads like Curtis Memorial Parkway/ I-66 and North Glebe Road/Route 237.

Exercise the Mind and Body

Residents are never bored, being so close to many outdoor amenities and attractions. On a nice day, you will often find people arm in arm, strolling through the nearby Lacey Woods Park, 14 acres of open green space in the midst of a major city. The park features a playground, basketball courts and a multi-use field, perfect for kids to run around and blow off some steam. Or, if you want to have a good old-fashioned cook out, the park is also equipped with a cool and shady picnic shelter and charcoal grill. The park’s nature trails and wooded areas provide the perfect opportunity to escape from the urban noise and simply enjoy the great outdoors.

People also gather from all around to check out the DEA Museum, an intriguing learning environment where visitors can discover the role of the federal drug law enforcement. The many interactive stations and education outreach programs offer a unique experience for every visitor. Some featured exhibits include the Target America exhibit, which aims to teach people about the harm illegal drugs have on the mind and body and takes an in-depth look at drug trafficking. Illegal Drugs in America: A Modern History takes a look back on the country’s history of drug epidemics, starting with the nineteenth century when Americans first discovered new wonder drugs such as morphine, heroin and cocaine. Visitors will also have a blast at the Good Medicine, Bad Behavior interactive exhibit, which delves into prescription drug abuse in America. Overall, this intensely educational yet entertaining museum is a must-see, whether you are a Waycroft resident or just passing through the area.

Unmatched Dining Experience

The Waycroft neighborhood is within a short distance of some of the best restaurants Arlington has to offer. Located right on Fairfax Drive, Willow Restaurant is a neighborhood favorite. With a menu that offers new and innovative interpretations of classic French and Northern Italian cooking, this five-star eatery is a favorite among the locals. All of the dishes here are created in artistic fashion and only with the freshest ingredients possible. Because the chefs locally source their ingredients, Willow’s menu changes seasonally. Some examples of the types of food you can expect to see include the delectable speck-wrapped yellowfin tuna and the crispy foie gras stuffed chicken ballotine. Also, do not hesitate to treat yourself to their decadent dessert such as the layer cake of the day, and fruity sweets such as the local apple crisp and pear upside down cake. Living up to their reputation as a partly French-inspired establishment, Willow’s gourmet cheese platters are ideal for sharing with friends, served with crunchy candied walnuts, apples, honeycomb, dried fruit and warm house-made bread.

Yet another neighborhood favorite is the Mussel Bar and Grille, located on North Glebe Road. Founded with the inspiration of a Belgian roadhouse, the restaurant is modeled after the type of place where the head chef would spend his youth. The stylish and edgy setting is welcoming to all and the staff always goes out of their way to make every customer feel at home. Mussel Bar and Grille serves up a variety of fresh seafood. Its close proximity to the Atlantic and the Chesapeake Bay region make it possible to source the best and freshest local oysters, jumbo shrimp, lobster, mussels and more! The bar also offers up an extensive Belgian beer list, including the chef’s own exclusive brew, Antigoon.

Also located on North Glebe Road, Il Forno is known throughout the neighborhood for its modern Italian-style cuisine. Remaining true to their Italian roots, the chefs also introduce fresh influences to their cooking, making original and creative dishes that everyone will enjoy. Their hard work has paid off, too, with Il Forno winning at Taste of Arlington’s 2015 festival. The interior reflects the restaurant’s modern outlook on food, but is also an intimate setting, perfect for enjoying a nice sit down meal with your friends and family. The get-it-and-go quick lunch menu is also ideal for stopping by on a work break or when you’re craving good food in a rush. Offering great prices for amazing dishes such as the pollo parmigina and prociutto cotto, this lunch menu is both delicious and convenient.

In a Nutshell

Waycroft is, overall, one of Arlington’s most enticing neighborhoods. With its modern, upscale houses, spacious, landscaped lawns and ideal location, who wouldn’t want to make a home in this lovely little urban escape?

Insight

Civil War Relics

When the site at the northeast corner George Mason and Washington Blvd was being cleared for a new homes development, metal-detector-welding history buffs scoured the site for any remains of years past. Rumor has it that some found a few bullet casings as well as coins that were long lost from Union soldiers that were stationed across the street at present day Lacey Woods Park.
