Leeway Real Estate

Homes for sale in Arlington VA's Leeway neighborhood

Guide to Leeway

Leeway is a lovely neighborhood in the city of Arlington. With upscale single-family homes and decent-sized city properties, enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in the center of one of Virginia’s most upbeat and lively cities. While still being a stone’s throw away from the best restaurants, nightlife and entertainment in Arlington, Leeway itself is a wonderful self-contained community, with strong bonds between neighbors and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Mapping Out Leeway

An oddly shaped neighborhood, Leeway is roughly bordered by North George Mason Drive to the east and the Glebewood neighborhood. To the south, it is approximately defined by 22nd Street N and Highland Park. North Quantico Street forms the western border and 27th Street N to the north.

Comfy Homes at Perfect Prices

People looking for new homes in the neighborhood can take their pick from a variety of high-end single-family homes, reasonably priced for the location. Many of the homes come with large properties that offer plenty of privacy. The neighborhood also has several townhouses and condo buildings.

Out and About the Town

Leeway has easy access to both public transportation and major roads that make getting around easy. Lee Highway runs right through the center of the neighborhood, going east to west. In addition, Arlington Transit also provides cross-county routes as well as connections to nearby metro stations.

Cultural Cuisine

Residents of Leeway live in a prime location to explore all of Arlington’s outstanding restaurants and bars. Offering diverse choices of cuisine, residents can experience flavors from all over the world as well as classic American fare right in their own neighborhood. Located on Washington Boulevard, Lost Dog Café has been faithfully bringing the community gourmet pizza and deli sandwiches since 1985. The menu also offers features dishes such as the Grown Up Grilled Cheese topped with tomatoes and avocado and Billy’s Philly, a char-grilled chicken breast with melted cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes and garlic mayo served on a fluffy sub roll. Priding itself on serving a hefty slice of compassion with each pizza, Lost Dog Café puts a part of each customer’s bill towards its Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, which has saved the lives of thousands of cats and dogs since its founding.

To satisfy the biggest sushi craving, head on over to Sushi-Zen on North Harrison Street. Featured in the Washington Post and a two-time winner of the Northern Viriginia Living’s Top 50 Restaurants, Sushi-Zen claims the title of Arlington’s favorite Japanese Restaurant. Offering a relaxed, family-oriented environment, this restaurant is known for its huge portions and great prices, giving you a high-quality bang for your buck. The outstanding sushi bar serves a variety of Japanese delicacies artfully prepared and present on hand-carved wooden boats. Customers can also take their pick from a variety of lunch and dinner combinations, complete with miso soup and salad with the famous house dressing.

Strolling down Wilson Boulevard, you will most likely be enticed by the savory aromas wafting from Fettoosh, conveniently located just steps from the Ballston metro station. Offering authentic Lebanese and Moroccan food, Fettoosh brings the spices of the Middle East to Arlington. There are separate menus for Lebanese and Moroccan food so customers know exactly where their delicious dishes are coming from. Moroccan cuisine includes the chicken bastille, a sweet delicacy wrapped in a pastry puff and sprinked with sugar and cinnamon and the Merguez Tagine, a spicy lamb dish with beef sausage in tomato sauce. On the Lebanese side, choose from a variety of shawarma platter, vegetarian combos and other mouthwatering entrees.

Getting To Know Your Community

Lee Park and Community Center is the hub of the neighborhood, bringing people of all ages and interests together for fun activities, events and programs. With outdoor and indoor facilities, there are plenty of ways to have fun and stay active in the Leeway community. For seniors, the center offers a multitude of engaging programs such as exercise groups, yoga and meditation for maintaining a healthy mind and body. Seniors can also sign up for oil painting classes, sewing sessions and poker groups. Parents and children can benefit from the Lee Center Cooperative Playgroup, a parent-run and funded program that offers convenient childcare for kids ages 1-5. With morning and afternoon sessions, the cooperative is a nurturing environment where neighborhood kids can make friends, and parents can get to know each other as well. Another great feature of the center is the Art Center, fostering a vibrant and lively creative culture in the neighborhood. The Art Center offers open studio programs in pottery, ceramic sculpture, tile making and printmaking. The Master Workshop Series gives residents a chance to interact with visiting artists and learn about a variety of media. Artists in residence also share their knowledge, offering hands-on help with techniques. Aspiring artists and art lovers alike will certainly appreciate the mini art gallery, which hosts interesting exhibitions throughout the year.
