Single Family Homes in Bluemont Neighborhood

Bluemont is a North Arlington single-family home neighborhood that has a great neighborhood feel, but with a location close to everything. Residents love this community not only because of the tree-lined streets of eclectic homes, but also because of the active nature of the citizens of the lively neighborhood.

 Just West of Ballston

The neighborhood of Bluemont is located just west of Ballston. Starting on N Glebe Road across from the Ballston Common Mall, the neighborhood continues north up to I-66, west along I-66 to the end of Bluemont Park, south down Bluemont to N Carlin Springs Road, then back east to N Glebe Road at the Ballston Common Mall. The community borders Boulevard Manor and Dominion Hills on the west, Westover, Lacey Forest, and Waycroft to the north, and Arlington Forest to the south.

Single Family Homes and Ballston Townhomes

For the most part, single-family homes take up much of the housing stock in Bluemont. However, some of the townhome communities in Ballston are considered to be a part of the Bluemont neighborhood. The detached houses in Bluemont range in style, size, and construction year. Like many neighborhoods in Arlington and Northern Virginia, colonial style homes are the most common home types that you’ll see throughout the community. There are more home-style options besides colonials, including Craftsmans, Cape Cods, Bungalows, Ramblers, and Farm Houses. Since the neighborhood has been around since the beginning of Arlington’s main development phase, the age of each home varies from the early 1900s, 1940s, 1960s, and even 2000s. Many of the older homes have since been renovated with new desirable features that today’s home buyer looks for, including hardwood floors, high-end cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and lots of designer features.

Easy Access to Highways, plus Trails

Since a big chunk of the neighborhood borders I-66, highway connections into Washington DC and out west to other areas of Virginia is very accessible. On the lower end of the neighborhood, the community connects with Route 50, which acts as a connect to other major access points like Leesburg Pike and George Washington Memorial Parkway. It’s also very convenient to have a car in this neighborhood, with many of the homes included garages, driveways, and ample street parking. Another way to get around is the Bluemont Junction Trail, a 1.2-mile trail, which connects Ballston to the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. This trail also meets with bike lanes that continue on to Rosslyn, Georgetown, and Washington DC.

If you get lucky, you may even see a wedding party getting their photo taken in the picturesque scene of the park.

An Ideal Arlington Neighborhood

The vibrant and dedicated residents are committed to making the neighborhood even more enjoyable to live in for years to come. It’s the quintessential single-family home Arlington neighborhood; close enough to the action, but with just enough space that it feels separate from urban living that is Arlington.
