To the west of Clarendon on the DC metro’s orange line are Virginia Square and Ballston.  While Ballston and Virginia Square may have been two distinct neighborhoods back when the orange line was developed in the 1970’s, these neighborhoods blend completely together today and for that reason we have decided to merge them together on one big page!

Condominium options abound in Ballston/ Virginia Square.  As such, there are condos in these neighborhoods that can match varying lifestyles and budgets.  If you are looking for a modern, high-rise condo, Continental, Liberty Center and Virginia Square may be your style.  Slightly older than these buildings, but featuring a (typically) lower price per square foot are Hyde Park, Alta Vista and Tower VillaThe Berkeley, Windsor Plaza, The Monroe and Lexington Square are modern boutique buildings that have a great feel.

When it comes to townhome options, Ballston and Virginia Square offer the most options on the Rosslyn- Ballston corridor.  Many of these homes are situated in the eight-block wide/ two blocks deep area between the shops and restaurants on Fairfax Drive and Washington Blvd.  For search purposes, we have broken these down into three neighborhoods- Ballston Area Townhomes, Bromptons at Ballston and Randolph Square.  Leaving Ballston proper heading west across Glebe Road are a cluster of neighborhoods that largely overlap one another.  Again, for search purposes we have listing these neighborhoods as Ballston Mews, Courts of Ballston, Ballston Place and Townes of Ballston.  Just a bit further down the road, in a beautifully wooded setting is Cathcart Springs.

Even considering all of the residential buildings in Ballston and Virginia Square, there are still plenty of dining and nightlife options to service the locals!  Restaurants to note vary from national brands such as Ted’s Montana Grill, PF Changs, Chevy’s and Noodles & Company, to more local establishments such as Willow, Tutto Benne and Caribbean Breeze.  Although Rock Bottom Brewery is technically a national chain, they have local brew masters for each location and thus they are worthy of escaping that category!

Aside from Rock Bottom, Ballston- Virginia Square is home to many bars to meet up for a drink.  Some places worth noting are Front Page, Bailey’s Pub & Grille, Carpool and Union Jack’s.
