Aurora Hills Real Estate

Homes for sale in Arlington VA's Aurora Hills neighborhood

Guide to Aurora Hills

Aurora Hills Neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia.

Aurora Hills is often referred to as one of the hidden gems of the single-family home real estate market in the Northern VA community of Arlington. This neighborhood’s desirability stems further from the wide variety of home types that sit on lush landscaped lots. Future residents seek to live to this neighborhood for its convenient location minutes away from Washington DC, DCA Airport, major highways and access roads, recreation options, and of course all of the retail and commercial development of the bordering Pentagon City and Crystal City neighborhoods.

Next to Pentagon City and Crystal City

The community of Aurora Hills is one of the major single family neighborhoods located near Crystal City and Pentagon City. Aurora Hills begins at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and 23rd St S, continues west to S Arlington Ridge Road, up north to the I-395 ramp to Army Navy Drive, down south on Army Navy Drive, east past Fraser Park to S Lang Street, south to S Glebe Road, east to Jefferson Davis Highway and back up north to the beginning of the neighborhood. The boundaries of the area border Alexandria on the south, Crystal City to the east, Pentagon City to the north, and Army Navy Country Club to the west.

A Blend of Older Homes and New Development

Like most of Arlington, the single-family homes in Aurora Hills sit on smaller lots, which means that the homes are bound to be close to neighbors. As far as the homes in the community, the styles of each abode are unique. On any given street, you’ll find classic colonials, newer Craftsmans, charming farmhouses, and even Cape Cods. Construction dates of these home vary just as much as the styles, with the many of the older homes dating back to the 1920s-1940s. There also has been an influx of new development projects and teardowns. In addition to a housing stock that mainly consists of an array of single-family homes, there also are a couple of brick colonial-style townhomes in this area.

Close to DC, plus Two Arlington Urban Villages

The location of Aurora Hills is ideal, located minutes away from major arteries of Arlington like I-395, Jefferson Davis Highway, and George Washington Memorial Parkway, leading into the city of Washington DC and also out to popular destinations in Virginia. This, combined with plentiful street parking and garages located on most properties in the neighborhood, makes the area an ideal place for those who prefer using their car for transport. Depending on the proximity to Crystal City, homes in the neighborhood also may be close to the blue and yellow line Crystal City metro station. Another viable transportation option is the Four Mile Run Trail, perfect for bikers. Access points to Four Mile Run Trail lie on the southern end of the neighborhood. The trail runs all the way through Arlington to the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, and also connects with the Mount Vernon, which stretches all the way to George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate.

Besides easy accessibility to Washington DC, Aurora Hills is also just minutes away from all of the shopping, restaurants, and amenities of Pentagon City and Crystal City. These urban villages are not only home to the popular shops of Pentagon Fashion Centre and Pentagon Row, but also have some exciting entertainment and dining options. Some of the go-to’s for restaurants include Jaleo, Fyve Restaurant and Lounge, and Good Stuff Eatery.

Great Recreation Possibilities

Recreation options trail through the neighborhood, including a bunch of parks, and of course the Aurora Hills Community Center! Fort Scott Park is the largest in the neighborhood, and has 12-acres of space, nature trails and paths, a picnic area, baseball/softball fields, a tennis court wall, basketball courts, and a playground. Eads Park is a bit smaller than Fort Scott Park, but also has lots of possibilities for recreation and relaxation, including a gazebo, charcoal grills, a playground, and a mixed-use field for play. Fraser Park and Oakcrest Park are the two smaller parks of the neighborhood, but are also good spots to enjoy some green space and fresh air.
